In MS Word 2007, using "merge branch" with the following selected
- All Documents
- Include Document titles
--Apply Heading Styles to Titles
--Generate TOC
-Include Texts
WritingOutliner generates the merged document properly, however the progress screen screen stays open and will not close by selecting cancel or the red X. I have repeated this. Any suggestions?

The above problem occurred on a machine running Word 2007 under XP Pro. I had the same result compiling the same manuscript on another machine running XP.
I compiled the same manuscript on a third machine running Vista with "Generate TOC" turned on, which worked without the screen remaining open.
- Compile manuscript running Word 2007 under XP & XP Pro resulted in a hung progress window when Generate TOC was selected. Manuscript and TOC were properly generated.
- Compile manuscript running Word 2007 under Vista functioned normally when Generate TOC was selected. Manuscript and TOC were properly generated.
I'll try to generate TOC manually on the XP Pro machine, but I won't have access to that machine until next week.

EDIT: To be clear, this glitch does NOT appear to cause any problem. Writing Outliner and Word continue function properly with the progress window open. Closing Word closes the progress window.

I have made some changes trying to ensure clicking the Cancel button the second time will close the progress window, but I wasn't able to reproduce the hung up problem, I'm wondering if it convenient for you to send me a sample project for testing. Thanks.

If I get time later this week, I'll try replacing my text with Lorem Ipsum dummy text. If that produces the same hung screen, I'll send you the project. So far, this has NOT happened with other Writing Outliner projects.
Again, this hung screen does not cause any problem. It will close when I close MS Word.
I'll try using STYLEs in MS Word to . I wonder if I have a conflicting heading style in one of my documents that causes trouble when Writing Outliner generates the TOC.
I'll post my findings here.

The sample project I sent you compiles without issue on my two other Windows machines, one running XP Pro, the other running Vista. Both are running MS Word 2007. The first occurrence of the progress screen issue was with an earlier version of project I sent you, that occurred on an HP minitower running XP Pro SP3. The screen no longer remains open with the current project on the XP Pro machine.
If no one else has experienced this issue, I would think the problem might be with the text in my project, which was exported from Scrivener (Mac) as .rtf and then imported to Writing Outliner. Perhaps I should have cleaned the text files with TextWrangler before importing them to Writing Outliner. Still, it seems odd that the "cancel" button will not close the progress screen on the Dell Mini 10v.
Let me know if you need more information or if you decide this glitch is unique to something on my setup and not the fault of Writing Outliner.

Thank you so much for the update, and I really appreciate you taking your time to replace your text with the dummy text! Unfortunatley, I couldn't reproduce the problem on my PC's, however, I noticed it took a while when Microsoft Word is calculating the word counts, etc, after all separate documetns were merged into a single one, not sure if some text in your project caused WORD went into a infinite loop...
However, I have made some change to the code to ensure that clicking on the Cancel button will close that window. If you have further info about this issue in the future, don't hesitate to let me know!
